The developing world can benefit from advances in biotechnology, but much needs to be done to make bio-engineered products available in forms that farmers can use. The Agriculture Biotechnology Support Project (ABSP) was established by USAID to support agricultural development in arid and semi-arid areas by introducing modern advances in agricultural biotechnology to improve yield and quality of agricultural produce. |

ABSPII responds to media reports on alleged violations to BD Act 2002 |

This is in response to the recent media reports on the possible intent of the Board of the National Biodiversity Authority (NBA) to initiate legal proceedings against all involved in the Agricultural Biotechnology Support Project II’s (ABSPII) Bt brinjal initiative for alleged violations to the Biological Diversity Act of 2002. We at ABSPII feel that the issue has been misrepresented and would like to take this opportunity to clarify on the facts of the matter. |
